Swets joins Ingenta’s unique subscription activation initiative
Ingenta is pleased to announce that Swets Information Services has joined its unique initiative to simplify the online access of e-journals for the 17,000 libraries that currently use www.ingenta.com.

Swets Information Services, www.swets.com, is the premier outsourcing and facilitating partner for the acquisition, access and management of scholarly, business and professional information. The world’s leading academic, government and medical organizations and one in three Fortune 500 companies choose Swets as their agent.

Swets joins a number of other key subscription agents in providing Ingenta with their data in order that a library's access can be reconciled automatically using Ingenta’s unique authentication system.

John Martin, Director Business Development and Marketing at Swets Information Services, said in a recent press release: "Swets is constantly looking for ways to improve electronic journal access for our customers. We are very pleased we can speed up this process by sending subscription data directly through to Ingenta."

Using the process, libraries have seamless and pre-configured access via Ingenta to their journals purchased through subscription agents. With other web services, libraries have to manually communicate each of the titles they subscribe to, in order to activate online access.

For more information, libraries should contact Ingenta's customer services team at help@ingenta.com or read the full release.

ABC-CLIO abstracting and indexing databases now linked to online journals from Ingenta
ABC-CLIO have linked their historical database, Historical Abstracts and America: History and Life, to journals available on Ingenta, helping their users to benefit from direct links to the full text.

In a press release from ABC-CLIO, Charlie Rapple, Publisher Distribution Manager at Ingenta says, "Ingenta recognizes the importance of increasing the visibility of our publishers' material via partnerships with respected subject resources. ABC-CLIO is a key web entry point for historians, and this new agreement helps us to further strengthen our linking network which is the most comprehensive online today for publishers and libraries." Ingenta improves OpenURL compliancy by enabling two new parameters to be passed in outbound OpenURLs from our active reference links

The two new parameters are:

   1. SID :: supplier ID :: This tells the institution's link server that the link has been provided by Ingenta. It enables the institution to track usage of Ingenta links, and also to configure their link server to display different options for different suppliers. Ingenta will pass &sid=ingenta:fulltext in OpenURLs from its active reference links.
   2. DOI :: Given the increasing adoption of the DOI Ingenta has now developed our system to pass the DOI of the requested article where we know it. DOIs will be passed thus: &id=doi:10.1234/12345.
