IngentaConnect: features and functionality of the latest release

Many of you will be aware that we recently released the final phase of the integration of Ingenta.com and Ingenta Select into our new service, IngentaConnect. The latest release consisted of the final features to be cut over from the Ingenta Select (previously CatchWord) platform, and enabled us to retire the Ingenta Select technology and interface. Features newly available in IngentaConnect as a result include:

• increased information commerce functionality to allow content sales at issue, as well as article, level
• flagging of free articles
• OpenURL-compliant reference linking (read more in this issue's InSight section)
• links between old and new versions of journal titles – recent discussions on SERIALST (the Serials in Libraries Discussion Forum) have highlighted the chaos title changes can cause!
• additional related links for all titles
• hosting of additional content types such as books, monographs, reports and statistics (see this news feature for more)

More features of this release are coming soon, including:

• "articles that cite this article" links for all content
• improved referrer URL support

We have also introduced a new library administrator homepage, illustrated below, which gathers together links to all the pages and tools around the IngentaConnect site with which administrators can, amongst other things:
• set up subscription access
• configure payment account details
• obtain statistics, journal lists and other reports
• manage your institutional profile, for example, define preferred article delivery options or register your link server

IngentaConnect Premium customers enjoy additional features also accessible via the administrator homepage, such as the advanced Flash statistics tool, or the option to add library branding to the IngentaConnect interface.

We know that many users liked the IngentaSelect interface with its clean design and user-friendly layout, and we have replicated as much of its functionality as possible within the IngentaConnect site. We are continuing to add to and improve on the features of the IngentaConnect interface, and will roll out further developments over the course of the next year. Please do let us know your ideas for making the site more useful and efficient for you and your users, by emailing us at feedback@ingenta.com with your comments.
