Free backfiles on IngentaConnect
As the open access debate continues, publishers are increasingly making the backfiles of their journals free to access. However, with no standard agreement amongst publishers (yet!), it can be hard to keep track of which publishers and which journals are making archive content freely available. We reviewed the 6000+ journals hosted on IngentaConnect and put together a list of those which have backfiles which are free to all users:• the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers offers free online access to Learned Publishing for all issues except those published in the current year
• Bentham Science Publishers offer free access to all online issues published prior to mid-2002
• the Faculty of Family Planning and Reproductive Care offers free access to its journal for issues published up to the end of 2003
• The Faculty of General Dental Practice's journal Team in Practice is free up to the end of 2004
• the International Institute for Environment and Development offers free access to Environment and Urbanization for issues published prior to mid-2003
• Maney Publishing's online journals are all free to access for issues published prior to 2003
• Psychonomic Society Publications offer free access to issues of Psychonomic Bulletin and Review published prior to 2002
• Rodopi have posted several free online archive volumes for each of Amsterdamer Beiträge zur neueren Germanistik, Clio Medica/The Wellcome Series in the History of Medicine, Critical Studies, Daphnis – Zeitschrift für Mittlere Deutsche Literatur and Language and Computers
• the Royal College of Midwives' RCM Midwives Journal issues are free up to the end of 2004
• the Royal College of Physicians' journal is freely accessible for issues published prior to mid-2003
• the Royal College of Surgeons of England offers free access to all issues of the Bulletin of the Royal College of Surgeons
• Taylor & Francis offer free online access to the Scandinavian Cardiovascular Journal and the Scandinavian Journal of Urology and Nephrology for issues published prior to mid-2003
