Keeping up with Connect: how to download COUNTER-compliant statistics reports

Ingenta is an active member of the international COUNTER (Counting Online Usage of NeTworked Electronic Resources) initiative to ensure consistent measurement of usage statistics within the online information industry. As such, COUNTER-compliant library usage statistics are freely available to all IngentaConnect registered library administrators. The data included in the reports is based on your patrons' usage of the publisher content that we host, and includes:

• Usage of table of contents
• Abstracts and article downloads per journal
• Numbers of visits and searches.

The standard statistics report is delivered via email, as a .csv file, to the library administrator associated with your institution. The administrator can request the report through a simple web-based form, and will receive the data within 24 hours. COUNTER reports enable you easily and accurately to compare usage of IngentaConnect-hosted content to usage of content you access via other COUNTER-compliant vendors, which may assist you in making purchasing decisions.

To request your free report online, simply login at www.ingentaconnect.com using your administrator username and password. (Contact help@ingentaconnect.com if you do not know your login details). Once you have logged in as the administrator, you will be presented with the administrator homepage. Select 'COUNTER-compliant statistics' from the COLLECTION menu and your report will be emailed to you within a few hours.

Ingenta is also a contributing partner to the SUSHI protocol (Standard Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative), which is developing a web services model for both requesting usage statistics and responding to those requests with data. The SUSHI protocol will provide libraries with a practical method of harvesting usage statistics for consolidation, thus reducing administrative costs associated with provider-by-provider downloads. Ingenta intends to go live with SUSHI compliancy later this year.

If you have any questions about Ingenta's library usage statistics, please do not hesitate to contact us at help@ingentaconnect.com.
