Full-text access to Blackwell Publishing content via IngentaConnect

From January 1st 2007, IngentaConnect's servers will no longer host the full text of articles from Blackwell Publishing journals. We will continue to host each issue's tables of contents and abstracts for Blackwell Publishing journals, but subscribers will be linked through to the Blackwell Synergy site for the full text article delivery.

Access rights will be validated both by IngentaConnect and by Blackwell Synergy, so libraries will need to activate their access on Blackwell Synergy to ensure seamless access via IngentaConnect. Non-subscribers, and users whose access is not validated by Blackwell Synergy, will be offered the option to buy full text articles using IngentaConnect's "pay per view" function.

You can continue to link to Blackwell Publishing journals and articles on IngentaConnect.

What Library Administrators Need to Do
Customers who have not yet activated their account on Blackwell Synergy should do so before the end of December 2006 in order to ensure a seamless transition with no loss of access for you or your users. If you have not yet received activation instructions, please send an email directly to Dean.Martin@oxon.blackwellpublishing.com providing the following information:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your institution's name and addresses of all the main sites covered by your library
  • Your Blackwell Customer ID(s), if you know them
  • List of the Blackwell journals to which you subscribe

You will then receive detailed instructions for activating and administering your institutional access to subscribed to journals via Blackwell Synergy. You should find these instructions easy to follow but if not, the Blackwell customer service team will be available to help with this transition. This change applies to Blackwell Publishing journals only, and does not affect any other journal subscriptions you currently access through IngentaConnect. If you have any queries about access on IngentaConnect please contact help@ingentaconnect.com.

Please note that access to American Sociological Association journals is not affected. It is not necessary to activate Synergy access for these titles.
