New RSS feed collections available from IngentaConnect

In addition to the "latest issue of this journal" and "recent issues of this journal" RSS feeds that have been available on IngentaConnect since mid-2004, you and your users can now retrieve collected feeds from the site for specific subject categories. The feeds have been gathered together using OPML , an XML format for exchanging directories of links. OPML is supported by all feed readers and aggregators in the same way as RSS, and provides a quick way for you and your users to find a list of relevant RSS feeds, categorised by subject and - optionally - limited to subscribed titles. As a result, you can point users to these directories so that they can quickly subscribe to feeds relevant to them, or use the feeds themselves to populate your OPAC or library website. The following categories of feeds are available:

Within this, we can also now offer a way to limit the subject feeds to journals to which your institution subscribes. This is based on IP authentication so does require you or the user to be on campus or accessing via a proxy server (and also, of course, that you have some active subscriptions!) Assuming you meet these basic requirements, though, it is possible to restrict the list to subscribed content by suffixing any of the above URLs with the following parameter:

&j_availability=subs

We welcome feedback about our RSS feeds so please do let us know if you have any problems or suggestions, either by emailing help@ingenta.com or by commenting on the blog posting in which we initially announced the new feeds.
