Welcome

to the latest edition of eyetoeye. Since our last catch-up, we have had a particularly busy few months, planning, attending and reporting on some key industry events and delivering some impressive new developments within the IngentaConnect service – including COUNTER 2 compliancy, simplified article purchasing, sophisticated new content guidance to help users find other relevant articles, new payment security features, CrossRef forward linking, and more.

You may have seen our announcements in the press about our new agreements with major publishers BRILL (which has selected IngentaConnect to host a new 50,000 article backfile) and The Charleston Advisor, for which we will now be providing online publishing. They're in good company, with another 7 new publishers as yet unannounced – get a sneak preview here!

In this issue, we are also pleased to report on our sibling company, PCG’s recent survey into journal renewal trends for libraries over the last four years, which has highlighted some interesting new developments and received a great deal of interest from the information community. We also give an insight into KBART, a new working group put together by UKSG and NISO to lead improvements in the supply of data to knowledge base providers.

As usual, we have a number of special offers for you, including newly-available free trials to provide your users with temporary access to selected IngentaConnect journals. Please do remember that we welcome your feedback about this newsletter – let us know (feedback@ingenta.com) if you have suggestions for features, or comments on articles you've read here.

We'll be exhibiting at London's Online Information show next week and hope to see many of you there. Drop by to visit us, on stand 404, and discuss how our latest upgrades and changes to IngentaConenct can offer you more.

On behalf of all of us in the library services team at Ingenta,

Claire Ginn Winthrop
Director, Library Services
