Beyond Online Journals: Exploring the Variety of Content on Ingenta

In this month's Beyond Online Journals spotlight: Interactive statistics from the International Energy Agency and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Did you know that Ingenta and IngentaSelect host interactive statistical databases, in addition to online journals? The International Energy Agency is the world's foremost producer of statistics on a wide range of energy issues, providing comparative, international, data on energy prices and tax rates; coal, oil, gas and electricity consumption; energy stocks and balances; renewables; and CO2 emissions.

User Access and Database Features
Online statistics users can build their own tables, in real time, and download them in Excel and csv formats via the special Beyond 20/20 software provided by the system (there is no need to install any special software, Beyond 20/20 will run on most standard Web browsers). The Beyond 20/20 system is intuitive and almost no training is required. Remote access by password is standard for this service, as is Athens authentication in the UK.

These datasets were added to Ingenta and IngentaSelect in March 2003, alongside the rest of the OECD's interactive statistical databases, which have been provided by Ingenta since 2001. Altogether, nearly 800 interactive statistical data tables are now available from the various OECD/IEA database products via Ingenta.

How to Subscribe
Each database product can be subscribed to separately and there are money-saving SourceOECD Statistics and IEA Statistics sets. Annual subscriptions are sold on an unlimited, multiple user basis with access controlled by IP address. It's as easy to subscribe and use these statistical databases as it is to subscribe and use a journal.

Begin to take advantage of this service! Free trial access to IEA and OECD statistical databases is available on request. Visit the OECD website for your local sales contact, or speak to your usual OECD vendor or subscription agent. Or, email SourceOECD@oecd.org.
