In the News: The World Bank Launches e-Library, Powered by Ingenta

Ingenta and the World Bank are pleased to announce the launch of e-Library, an electronic portal to the Bank’s full-text collection of books, reports, and other documents.

A commercial, subscription-based research and reference tool, the World Bank e-Library brings together, in a fully indexed and cross-searchable database, more than 1,200 titles published by the World Bank during the past several years. Furthermore, the e-Library will hold all future titles formally published by the World Bank. In addition to the e-Library, institutions may also subscribe to the World Bank's electronic databases, World Development Indicators Online and Global Development Finance Online.

Dirk Koehler, Publisher, World Bank, said, “The World Bank is confident that the integrated online solution developed in partnership with Ingenta will offer researchers all over the world, both in developed and in developing countries, access to an invaluable, full-text collection of World Bank books, reports and documents.”

“Ingenta is honored to help bring together one of the largest collections of social and economic development research in an online environment, allowing individuals from around the globe to benefit immediately from access to this unprecedented collection,” said Mark Rowse, Chief Executive Officer, Ingenta plc.

One of the world’s largest sources of development assistance, the World Bank also prides itself on its role as a “Knowledge Bank.” In support of its operations and its efforts to promote economic development in borrower countries, the World Bank compiles statistical indicators of social and economic development, undertakes important research on an array of public policy issues, and actively disseminates information worldwide.

The World Bank e-Library is built and powered by Ingenta. Access to e-Library titles is available via the World Bank site at http://elibrary.worldbank.org and via Ingenta Select through an institutional subscription to the collection or on a pay-per-view basis.
