Integration Update
We are pleased to bring you an update on the integration of our two existing journal access platforms, ingenta.com and ingentaselect.com.Stay tuned in the coming months for dedicated integration customer communications via email, and be sure to read further in this article for answers to some frequently asked questions about the integration process.
Major infrastructure work has recently been completed behind-the-scenes at Ingenta, including
• The groundwork for the creation of a single authentication and subscription information database, which will rationalize the data held in ingenta.com and ingentaselect.com.
• A move to a new application server platform and the addition of enhanced templating capabilities, which will allow for more stable, speedier delivery of content, and provide us with the technological support to provide enhanced features and functionality throughout the Ingenta experience.
Additional behind-the-scenes work to be completed by the end of December 2003:
• The migration of all authentication and subscription information into a new access control system, which will form the final key element to the infrastructure backbone of the new integrated service.
To launch in the early New Year:
• A beta version of the new user interface, to be tested alongside and without disruption to the existing services. We will actively solicit the input of our users on the beta site to further develop the final interface.
When and how will I be informed about future, visible progress regarding the integration?
All of our customers will be contacted regularly over the next six months as both behind-the-scenes and externally visible progress is made on the integration. We will be sending out regular, dedicated integration communications via email to all of our customer groups.
In addition to these email communications, we will be launching an Integration Update page in December 2003. Accessible from the home page of both ingenta.com and ingentaselect.com, this update area will list all of the key progress made on the integration of our two sites, in addition to including detailed FAQs for our users. You will receive word of the launch of this integration update page in the coming weeks.
Do I need to prepare for any changes now, or in the coming months?
No, you do not need to make any changes to your existing accounts, subscriptions or links now, or in the future. Ingenta will unify your account and subscription information across ingenta.com and ingentaselect.com, in addition to redirecting all of your existing links. Your transition to the integrated site will be a seamless one.
Who do I contact with questions or feedback regarding the integration?
Please email help@ingenta.com if you have additional questions or suggestions at this time. We also invite you to email us if you would like to be a part of our formal beta tester group in the New Year. User feedback throughout the beta stage of our new site will be instrumental to its development. We want your criticism and praise.
We look forward to the launch of our integrated service, and will do our best to keep you well informed of its progress over the coming months.
