to this special issue of Ingenta's eyetoeye library newsletter. We're delighted to be announcing our recent merger with VISTA International, a company which specialises in comprehensive back-office software and supporting services for publishers. The two companies will combine to form Publishing Technology plc. However, our existing business brands (including IngentaConnect and Heron) will continue to operate autonomously, and current services and staffing will not be affected.
How will this affect you, our library customers?
In short, it won't. The merger is a vertical integration designed to complete the set of software and services we are able to offer to publishers. As such, there is limited overlap between our products, activities and audience and VISTA's. IngentaConnect will continue to function exactly as it currently does, and our commitment to you, our library customers, remains as strong as ever.
So where are the benefits?
At the heart of the deal is the intended integration of our Information Commerce Software and VISTA's author2reader™ applications suite. This will create an end-to-end system which is uniquely tailored to publishers' needs to unite management of online and offline publications. In addition, all areas of Ingenta and VISTA's business will benefit from the critical mass now achieved by the group, and from its strengthened management team.
