News from the library services team

SWETS joins Subscription Activation Initiative

We are delighted to announce that one of the world’s leading subscription agents, SWETS Information Services, has joined other subscription agents in an Ingenta initiative to provide libraries and administrators with a more streamlined subscription validation process.

Rather than having to compile their own subscription lists, librarians can now request that their agent send Ingenta a list of their subscriptions for automatic validation using Ingenta’s unique authentication system.

For the publisher, this saves both time and effort and ensures prompt activation to your online publications. Read press release.

User sessions continue to rise

User sessions on Ingenta (www.ingenta.com and www.ingentaselect.com) have more than doubled in the past year. In June 2004 ten million user sessions were recorded with the twelve million mark being reached in July.

Increased usage has also resulted in a growth in the number of article downloads from our websites. In the last three months, more than 4.5 million articles have been accessed via subscription or pay-per-view, an increase of 7% on the same period last year.

For publishers, this is a positive trend, ensuring that their publications continue to see increasing visibility from a wide global audience.

Keeping Pace with Technology Trends: RSS Feeds

With the amount of digital information growing all the time, your readers are becoming increasingly more selective about the websites they use. RSS feeds, already popular with many researchers, provide users with up-to-the-minute headlines tracked and personalised for them and are.

In order to drive traffic to your publications, and to ensure that your current readers are provided with the latest links, Ingenta has introduced RSS feeds (via www.ingentaconnect.com), accessible via a button on the issues page with the headline displaying issue number, date, and a direct link to the table of contents of your publication.

If you would like to receive more information on RSS feeds, please contact a Client Manager for a copy of our RSS Feeds factsheet.
