Ingenta's first Information Commerce Software release is accepted
Institute of Physics Publishing (IoPP), one of the largest and most progressive publishers of physics information in the world and the first customer of Ingenta's Information Commerce System (ICS) licensed software, has recently accepted the initial release of that software. The new technology, developed by Ingenta's Information Commerce Division (ICD), is the first commercially-available software to integrate the management of publication subscriptions with online and offline products sold via the internet. In-house staff at IoPP will now be able to create new business models and reconfigure authentication & authorisation options at the touch of a button, using an administrative interface.
Guy Plowman, Director of Business Development (EU) in Ingenta's Information Commerce Division said, "IoPP have a strong reputation for successful innovation in digital publishing and we are delighted to have been working with them on the implementation of our new licensed Information Commerce Software. This software has been developed to fulfil the information commerce requirements of publishers like IoPP and we look forward to announcing further contracts in the near future."
Such groundbreaking Information Commerce Software is set to replace the existing systems for handling subscriptions to electronic and print journals. It gives publishers the agility to respond to the needs of the changing market in which they operate, by deploying flexible business models - the performance of which can be monitored to enable further evolution where needed. ICS can be delivered either as a licensed software product, or on an Application Service Provider (ASP) basis. So, whether you are looking to provide access control and flexible e-commerce capabilities to a new website, replace an existing access control system, or implement a single source of authentication and commerce behind a series of unconnected websites, Ingenta has the technology to meet your needs.
