On your behalf: Ingenta's work on industry committees
The information industry is a continuously changing environment, and the relative youthfulness of electronic publishing ensures that developments and discussions are always underway to drive smoother processes and more effective interaction. A number of Ingenta staff undertake committee work for various industry organisations, to ensure that we are representing your interests and helping to shape the future of our industry.
Leigh Dodds, Engineering Manager
Leigh represents Ingenta on ALPSP's Future Watch Committee, which monitors and forecasts important developments in the fields of technology, economic/business models, academic policy, funding, international developments, political initiatives etc.. The committee produces regular white papers on key issues, and advises ALPSP on further research which might benefit that organisation's members, and the industry as a whole.
Kirsty Meddings, Product Development Manager
Kirsty is a member of the international advisory board of the COUNTER project, of which Ingenta was a founding sponsor. COUNTER came up with the widely-adopted and groundbreaking COUNTER standards and protocols which govern publishers' and intermediaries' reporting of online usage data. Kirsty also represents Ingenta on the executive committee of the Association of Subscription Agents & Intermediaries (ASA). This committee organises annual conferences and seminars with a particular focus on issues into which agents and intermediaries are uniquely positioned to provide insight.
Charlie Rapple, Head of Marketing
Charlie is an active member of the UK Serials Group (UKSG) Marketing Committee, which comprises representatives from publishers, libraries and intermediaries. The committee runs the UKSG website, a valuable resource for industry information, and moderates lis-e-journals, one of the most widely used email discussion lists for parties in the serials chain. The marketing committee also has involvement in organising the UKSG annual conference, an intense information hit which is always well over-subscribed. Amongst other contributions, Charlie's work for the committee has included founding and writing for the UKSG blog, LiveSerials.
Louise Tutton, Head of Client Management
Louise is a member of the education committee of the Society for Scholarly Publishing. This committee organises seminars on a range of topics which have relevance to the scholarly publishing community. Louise also represents Ingenta on ALPSP's Professional Development Committee, which co-ordinates events to provide information and skills training across all aspects of publishing.
