Ingenta at the Book Fairs, and forthcoming Publisher Forum
We opened our autumn show schedule this year with our first Ingenta presence at the Beijing International Book Fair. IngentaConnect's Vice President Doug Wright and Head of Client Management Louise Tutton attended the event to establish relationships and open up channels of discussion with key players in this major emerging market. We are grateful to our friends at Charlesworth China for their practical assistance and we look forward to future visits to this increasingly relevant event.

Barely had Louise and Doug returned from Beijing before it was time to head off to Germany for the biggest event in our exhibition calendar, the Frankfurt Book Fair. This year, we had a brand new stand which elicited many admiring comments:

And there was a great turn-out at our annual drinks party, which this year had a "sparkling" theme in celebration of what the analysts are terming "Ingenta's renaissance" :

Make sure you have Wednesday 10th October 2007 in your diary for next year's party! And talking of dates for the diary, be sure to save Monday 27th November 2006 for our annual UK Publisher Forum. We have a compelling selection of speakers this year, including OUP's Fiona Bennett, who will present the results of that publisher's ongoing experiments with Open Access Journals. In a complementary session, The Big Idea's Melinda Kenneway will address alternative revenue streams for scholarly publishers, including the potential of online advertising sales. In addition, our own Leigh Dodds will return with more blue-sky technology thinking, and Lucy Power will explain why a website's Information Architecture is more important than ever before. We'll also have an update on Ingenta's activities and successes in 2006, and a US librarian to tell us what institutions in that market are looking to publishers to deliver. All in all, it promises to be an enormously informative event - against the dramatic backdrop of London's River Thames and its skyline, as our venue this year is the distinctive HMS President. Invitations and a full agenda will be mailed to all our publisher customers in the next few weeks - be sure to join us!
