Leigh Dodds is appointed CTO of Ingenta

We are delighted to announce that, following our merger with VISTA International and the ensuing strengthening of our management team, we have appointed Leigh Dodds to the role of Chief Technology Officer, Ingenta. Leigh has been a great ambassador for Ingenta in his role as Engineering Manager, and his reputation in the technology industry and aptitude for research & development make him a natural choice for the CTO position.

In his new role, Leigh will have full responsibility for the architectural and technical strategy of the ICE platform which supports our flagship website IngentaConnect and the discrete publication websites we build on behalf of clients.

Leigh was an early adopter of currently-fashionable Java, XML and Semantic Web technologies and, in addition to bringing this expertise to Ingenta's developments, has released a number of open source applications and contributed code and documentation to several open source projects. He is a regular speaker on the conference circuit and has prepared and presented training sessions on behalf of a number of organisations including IBM. As an author, Leigh has been published several times by both publishing industry journals and more generic technology publishers including market leader O'Reilly. His work has even been cited by none other than Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web.

Leigh's role ongoing will include more future-gazing to ensure that Ingenta's technology strategies and software deployment continue to remain at the cutting edge. He will input to the development and direction of Ingenta's overall strategy and service offerings, and continue to seek ways in which technology can be harnessed to provide efficiencies for Ingenta that will present value to our clients. He will continue to attend and speak at events on Ingenta's behalf - amongst other things, look out for him at this year's UKSG annual conference, at the ALPSP International Scholarly Communications Conference which he will chair, and at the Society for Scholarly Publishing's Annual Conference at which he will sit on a panel addressing "the new next things" in the scholarly publishing industry.

We congratulate Leigh on his new role and look forward to reaping the benefits of his expertise.
