Read reviews and download presentations from our recent UK and US publisher forums – "Information Industry Vectors" (UK) and "Reaching out to customers directly" (US).

Welcome

to this latest edition of Ingenta's eyetoeye newsletter for publishers. A huge amount has been happening since our last issue - most importantly, our merger with back-end publishing software provider VISTA International to form Publishing Technology plc. Naturally, this is a very exciting development for us - and for you, our clients, who will benefit from the strengthening of our organisation and its increased critical mass. Read the latest on the merger and the progress we have made since its announcement, including our appointment of Leigh Dodds as Ingenta CTO.

In other news, we review the most recent publisher events we have presented - our UK Publisher Forum, in December, addressed "Information industry vectors: where next for technology and business models" whilst we took our new "open" forum format to the US in February, where our "Reaching out to customers directly: improving the way you market your content" event was received with approbation. In addition, we give you details of a new advertisement we've put together to help you publicise your online journals to print subscribers.

In our InSight think piece, we look at the increasing number of solutions being offered to the vexing issue of correctly identifying and hierarchically grouping institutional subscribers. What do the various options offer to publishers and their library customers?

And finally, as usual, we round up the latest publishers to join IngentaConnect: 2006 was an unprecedented year for us in this respect, with twice as many new publishers choosing to partner with IngentaConnect as in 2005. We look forward to a similarly successful 2007 - both for us at Publishing Technology, and for you, our publisher partners.

On behalf of all of us at Ingenta and Publishing Technology,

Simon Dessain
COO
