Gale and Ingenta Launch InfoTrac Plus

On July 9th, GaleŽ and Ingenta unveiled InfoTrac Plus, an enhanced service that offers researchers from around the world access to an estimated 90% of the scholarly journal content online today. The service, which just launched in the US last month, combines access to journals from both Ingenta and Gale through one convenient interface.

“The combination of content from ingenta.com and from Gale’s InfoTrac system creates a gateway to the most complete collection of full-text online journals in the marketplace,” said Andrea Keyhani, Ingenta’s COO.

Access to Ingenta’s 5,400+ scholarly online journals was combined with Gale’s core periodical hosted content — about 4,200 full-text titles — to create a single point of access for more than 9,000 titles online. At no additional cost, Gale librarians and their patrons can view their Ingenta subscription titles through their InfoTrac interface. A pay-per-view option enables users to buy individual digitized articles when the library does not hold a subscription.

“Gale’s InfoTrac system is used by millions of users in more than 100 countries, representing a vast new user base for our publisher clients,” said Mark Rowse, Ingenta’s CEO. “This partnership demonstrates Ingenta’s commitment to promoting increased usage of publishers’ content on ingenta.com — and increased revenues for our partners.”

The service debuts with Gale’s InfoTrac OneFile Plus and Expanded Academic Plus, two premier InfoTrac products. InfoTrac is known for its simple, intuitive search interface and rich array of services.
